Mental Health Therapist – ACT Team

Salt Lake City, Utah

Help People Build Lives of Meaning, Purpose, and Recovery

At First Step House, our mission is simple: We help people build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery. We believe recovery is possible for everyone, and we are seeking a compassionate, skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team.

This is not a traditional office-based therapy position.

As an ACT Team Mental Health Therapist, you'll provide therapy and clinical support directly in the community-meeting clients where they live, work, and spend their time. You'll work with adults living with serious mental illness, helping them build stability, strengthen coping skills, and achieve their personal recovery goals.

If you're passionate about serving individuals with complex mental health needs and want to be part of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team, we'd love to meet you.

Schedule: Day shift

Pay: $70,000 - $85,00

Benefits:

  • 15 Paid Holidays Annually - Including Your Birthday
  • Robust Paid Time Off Program
  • 401(k) Employer Match up to 5%
  • Annual Merit Increase & Bonus Opportunities
  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance
  • Mission-driven work that changes lives
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture

  • Co-occurring substance use disorders

Our team includes therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, peer support specialists, and substance use disorder counselors working together to provide comprehensive, person-centered care.

What You'll Do

  • Provide individual psychotherapy in community-based settings

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and treatment planning

  • Utilize evidence-based interventions such as:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp)

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, peer specialists, and case managers

  • Support individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

  • Participate in rotating weekday evening on-call coverage

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Make a meaningful impact with individuals who need services the most

  • Practice therapy beyond the four walls of an office

  • Work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team

  • Utilize evidence-based interventions with a highly engaged population

  • Receive clinical supervision if working toward independent licensure

  • Help clients achieve real-world recovery outcomes

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field

  • Current Utah licensure or associate licensure:

    • LCSW or CSW-I

  • Flexible, creative, and adaptable

  • Comfortable working in community settings

  • Skilled at engaging individuals who may be hesitant or resistant to treatment

  • Passionate about helping people achieve meaningful recovery

  • Collaborative and team-focused

At First Step House, you'll join a mission-driven organization committed to transforming lives and strengthening our community-one person, one recovery journey, and one success story at a time.
