Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead MHP II at BRCU CSU.

  • Will work closely with the Program Mgr., Operations, Medical & other institutional staff.

  • Perform supportive services for crisis inmates, conducts daily mental health evaluations on crisis intervention, participates in weekly treatment team/tele psych, provide focus intervention in collaboration with SCDC clinical and custody staff, work in conjunction with other state, regional and institutional staff to ensure continuity of care.

  • Assists with custody related duties including supervision of recreation, and suicide watch.

  • May conduct two groups per day (structured/nonstructured if needed).

  • May conduct out of cell activities with clients.

  • Attend divisional meeting and staff training.

  • Participate in on-call services which includes onsite, after hour/weekend.

  • Must be flexible to provide holiday coverage if needed to designated institution.

  • Will utilize the C-SSRS and CISP screen according to policy.

  • This position is located at Kirkland ICS.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A masters degree in clinical social work, counseling, or related degree and two (2) years of experience in counseling.

  • Must be licensed as an LPC-A, LPC, LMSW, LISW, or LMFT or higher

OR

  • Have comparable out of state licensure with eligibility for SCLLR license which must be obtained within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer LPC, LPC-S, LISW-CP-S, LMFT, or LMFT-S license.
