Mental Health Case Management Clinician Job Opportunity

Job Summary

The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for the position of Mental Health Case Management Clinician. As a Mental Health Case Management Clinician, you will provide case management services for voluntary and involuntary clients who are diagnosed with mental illness.

Benefits and Salary

The hiring departments have numerous immediate vacancies and will be holding interviews on Tuesdays. Job offers will be made shortly after the interviews. The County of San Diego has an excellent opportunity for Mental Health Case Management Clinician to provide adult mental health services to significantly improve the lives of individuals with mental illness.

Future Salary Increases:

  • June 2026 - 5.17% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 1.67% Market Adjustment Increase)
  • June 2027 - 4.67% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 1.67% Market Adjustment Increase)

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience providing case management services to adult clients who have serious mental illness
  • Be able to assist clients and function independently in field work situations
  • Have experience conducting behavioral health assessments to determine mental health and social service needs of clients

Required Education and Experience

An Associates of Arts degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field AND six (6) years of experience in a mental health setting providing case management services to individuals with serious mental illness. Two (2) of which must be post Associates of Arts degree clinical experience.

Alternatively, a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field, AND four (4) years of experience in a mental health setting providing case management services to individuals with serious mental illness.

Evaluation and Selection Process

Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained on their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
