Mental Health and Criminal Justice Educator

Experienced and aspiring mental health professionals are encouraged to consider a full-time Competency Education Trainer position with Liberty Healthcare.

This position will be an active contributor with Liberty's specialized forensic mental health program based at the Robert Presley Detention Center - a Riverside County jail located in Riverside, CA.

Liberty's program provides timely and comprehensive mental health care and restoration services to adults who are found to be incompetent to stand trial due to their mental illness.

Role summary

As a Competency Education Trainer, you will work in the jail and provide face-to-face services to program clients who are adult inmates.

You will educate clients about their mental illness, the criminal justice system, and general court proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Delivering structured curriculum to individuals and small groups
• Documenting services and client progress
• Participating in clinical team meetings
• Collaborating with jail security staff and medical and clinical professionals

Work setting and schedule

• You will work onsite at the Robert Presley Detention Facility at 4000 Orange St. in Riverside, CA 92501
• Weekday schedule with daytime hours
• Option to work either five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days

Salary and benefits

• $60,000 to $67,000 (depending on qualifications)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, criminal justice, or similar social services
• Prior experience supporting people with mental illness
• Basic knowledge of criminal justice concepts
• Outstanding communication skills
