DPS is now hiring a Memory Coach for a Healthcare Facility in the Pearland area. Dean's Professional Services has partnered with healthcare facilities, government organizations, and corporations to provide job opportunities.  

Job Details:

Location: Pearland, TX

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

Starting Pay Rate: $18.00 / Hourly (Based on experience) 

Temporary to hire

Responsibilities:

  • Implement prescribed cognitive rehabilitation interventions and prepare and organize activities following established care plans.
  • Facilitate individual and group cognitive stimulation activities, including memory exercises, puzzles, matching games, and orientation activities.
  • Assist residents with functional skills practice and therapeutic activities that promote independence.
  • Document resident observations, participation, responses, and progress accurately with the care team.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents and provide compassionate support.
  • Adapt communication techniques based on individual cognitive abilities and needs.
  • Monitor residents for signs of fatigue, frustration, or distress and provide appropriate support.
  • Assist with transitions between activities while maintaining a calm and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in team meetings and assist with care planning and outcome tracking.
  • Support family engagement by demonstrating cognitive support techniques and answering basic activity related questions.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive memory care environment.

Job Requirements:

  • 1 - 3+ years of experience working with individuals with dementia or cognitive impairments.
  • Associate degree in healthcare, psychology, gerontology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of dementia care approaches and basic cognitive rehabilitation techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and compassion when working with residents with cognitive decline.
  • Basic understanding of dementia progression and its impact on cognitive functioning.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and implement prescribed interventions consistently.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to behavioral expressions associated with dementia.
  • Capacity to assist with resident positioning during activities as needed.
  • Comfort working in a secure memory care environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and engage with residents for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Certification as a Cognitive Rehabilitation Technician, Dementia Care Specialist, or related credential.
  • Training in dementia care approaches such as Montessori for Dementia or validation therapy.
  • Experience working in nursing homes, memory care, assisted living, or long-term care settings.
  • Experience planning activities for older adults with cognitive impairments.
  • Familiarity with cognitive assessment tools and memory care documentation practices
  • Knowledge of using electronic health record systems and document accurately
