Position Overview:

Position: Membership Services Center Representative
Location: 1635 N.E. Loop 410 San Antonio, Texas 78209
Compensation: $21 - $25/hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Work Schedule: Onsite | Monday-Thursday (8:00am – 5:00pm), Friday (8:00am – 3:00pm) | Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs.

Be the Voice of Exceptional Member Service:

Under general supervision, the Membership Services Center Representative provides accurate, timely, and professional service to members, beneficiaries, agents, and internal departments through telephone, written, and electronic communication.

 

The representative is expected to take ownership of assigned work, resolve routine requests, when possible, recognize when assistance is needed, and approach problems with a focus on effective solutions.

 

Furthermore, you will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Respond to members, beneficiary, agent, and internal inquiries regarding policy information, provisions, procedures, and service requests.
  • Research policy records, systems, and approved resources to provide accurate information and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Process routine policy and certificate requests, including changes, conversions, reinstatements, exchanges, policy values, loans, beneficiary and ownership requests, and related services.
  • Accurately document inquiries, actions, status, and next steps; prepare and proofread correspondence and forms.
  • Prioritize and manage assigned work using department systems, shared inboxes, trackers, and established workflows based on urgency, member impact, deadlines, and business need.
  • Take ownership of requests through completion, including identifying aging or stalled work, communicating follow-up needs, and meeting commitments.
  • Identify missing or conflicting information, resolve issues within established authority, and escalate matters requiring additional guidance or specialized knowledge.
  • Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and quality while working across multiple systems and resources.
  • Support team service levels through workload coverage, knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and member service; perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: No direct supervisory responsibilities. As experience develops, the representative may assist teammates through knowledge sharing, workload coverage, and department initiatives.

Development Expectations

The Level I representative is expected to build knowledge of company products, policy provisions, procedures, systems, and department workflows. As proficiency develops, the representative should demonstrate increasing independence in routine work, sound judgment, consistent documentation, and reliable follow-through.

 

The goal is to develop a knowledgeable, accountable, and dependable service professional who can be trusted with member needs and assigned work.

 


 

Skills & attributes to be a success in this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service experience and demonstrated commitment to providing professional, empathetic support.
  • Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use multiple computer and administrative systems.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Upholds strict confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in all professional interactions.
  • Successful completion of required company training and applicable insurance education, including LOMA coursework as established by the department training plan.

 

Additional Qualifications We Value:

  • College coursework or degree.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, banking, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience researching information and resolving customer issues.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands: Professional office environment requiring regular use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment. The position may require extended periods of sitting, computer and telephone use, and occasional filing, scanning, copying, and movement throughout the office. The position may occasionally require carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
