Description

About the Role

This is a full-time Member of Technical Staff role at a fast-growing, VC-backed infrastructure company in the healthcare automation space. The company runs hundreds of thousands of automations per month for some of the most active startups in the sector, and this engineer will own large, ambiguous projects from design through production on day one. The near-term focus includes building and scaling sandboxed environments that mirror live websites used in automation workflows, with a clear path to leading a dedicated product-area team within the organization.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional builder with 2 to 4 years of experience (up to roughly 6 considered), a strong instinct for production reliability, and a track record that shows up in rapid promotions, standout side projects, or references that others simply cannot match. A background at a VC-backed Series B-plus infrastructure company is the strongest signal; big tech experience followed by a high-growth startup is equally compelling. Candidates who are energized by AI tooling and comfortable pairing with and mentoring junior engineers will thrive here.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Write design proposals, socialize them with the team, then implement, test, and ship end to end
  2. Own large infrastructure projects such as sandboxed website clone environments used in production automation workflows
  3. Respond to incidents and metric alerts to keep production reliable and performant
  4. Scale worker orchestration and infrastructure as automation volume continues to grow
  5. Pair with and mentor junior engineers on your assigned product area
  6. Ramp on the codebase quickly and deliver a scoped, user-accepted project to production within 90 days
  7. Engage lightly with customers as needed to deepen product understanding

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of software engineering experience in production infrastructure environments (up to approximately 6 years considered)
  • Demonstrated ability to own complex systems end to end, including on-call responsibility
  • Hands-on experience scaling worker orchestration and infrastructure across cloud platforms
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce and iterate on design proposals
  • Track record that signals top-tier technical ability: rapid promotions, notable outside projects, or exceptional references
  • Comfort with and enthusiasm for AI-assisted development tooling
  • Willingness to work on-site five days per week in San Francisco; relocation support is available

Preferred Skills

  • Background at a VC-backed Series B-plus infrastructure company (examples include companies in the Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, or Modal tier)
  • Experience at a large technology company followed by a high-growth startup
  • Familiarity with healthcare or highly regulated-industry automation contexts
  • Prior experience informally or formally leading a product-area team or workstream
