About the Company
Our client is a seed-stage, venture-backed startup building the simulation, evaluation, and observability layer for voice AI agents — the infrastructure that makes conversational AI reliable enough to trust with real customers. Founded by engineers who previously built core infrastructure at major cloud and AI platforms, the company is already used by household-name enterprises across five continents, handling millions of calls a month on seven-figure revenue. It's a roughly 10-person team solving genuinely hard real-time engineering problems.
Founded 2025 · ~10 people · Industry: AI Tools / Voice AI infrastructure
The Role
As a Member of Technical Staff, you'll architect and build the systems that simulate, analyze, and evaluate conversational AI agents across voice and multimodal systems, and design the resilient, scalable cloud infrastructure that keeps millions of real-time conversations running. This is a high-bar, full-ownership role on a small team, and it's customer-facing — you'll work directly with some of the largest companies in the world to build, deploy, and refine the product.
What you'll be doing
- Architecting simulation, analysis, and evaluation systems for conversational AI (voice and multimodal)
- Building resilient, scalable AWS infrastructure (Lambda, EC2, WebSockets, SIP) for millions of real-time conversations
- Developing algorithms and pipelines that surface insights, detect failure modes, and keep agents safe and aligned
- Owning your work end to end across the full stack
- Working on-site with customers to build, deploy, and iterate on the product
Tech stack: Python, FastAPI, Supabase, Redis, heavy AWS, WebSockets, CI/CD; Machine Learning and LLMs; voice AI tooling (LiveKit, Deepgram, Cartesia, ElevenLabs, Gemini and similar); observability (Sentry, PostHog, Grafana, Datadog)
Requirements
- At least 1–2 years of professional engineering experience
- A high technical bar with genuine full-stack proficiency, particularly across databases, AWS, and AI engineering
- A detail-obsessed approach and the ability to lead the technical execution of a project, ideally having built high-traffic features at scale
- A standout signal in your background — a strong bachelor's degree and/or time at a top fast-growing startup
- A strong, personable communicator who's comfortable working directly with customers
- Able to work fully on-site in San Francisco, five days a week (9-7)
Nice to Haves
- Experience handling significant scale as an IC or senior engineer
- Technical lead experience owning projects end to end
- Strong, opinionated design instincts with deep systems intuition and a highly optimized developer workflow
- Comfort and polish in front of customers
