ABOUT THE POSITION

Position Title: MBL Portfolio Manager

Position Overview: As an MBL Portfolio Manager, you will support the ongoing administration and performance of our commercial loan and deposit portfolios. You will organize and monitor borrower financial information, annual reviews, loan documentation, insurance, and other covenant requirements; maintain accurate portfolio records; and serve as a key liaison among business members, MBL Loan Officers, and internal partners. This role is well suited for a detail-oriented communicator who takes ownership, works independently, and contributes to a collaborative, team-driven environment.

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week). Monday to Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM 

Compensation Range: $65,000 - $90,000/yr. *Hiring rates may be dependent on a number of factors, including years of directly related work experience, education, geographic location or special skills*

Location: On-site at our corporate headquarters in Endwell, NY

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Collect, track, and maintain borrower financial information, rent rolls, leases, insurance policies, tax receipts, and other documentation required by loan covenants.
  • Coordinate with business members, MBL Loan Officers, and internal partners to obtain required information, resolve questions, and keep portfolio activity moving forward.
  • Maintain accurate portfolio records and tracking tools, including annual review documentation, policy exceptions, maturing loans, adverse actions, and current borrower files in Synergy.
  • Support annual reviews, loan renewals, payoffs, modifications, and non-real estate loan closings by confirming that required pre-closing and post-closing documentation is complete.
  • Monitor portfolio requirements and deadlines, proactively identify missing or outdated information, and keep management informed of status, exceptions, and follow-up needs.
  • Prepare and monitor recurring reports and borrower notices using Excel and other Microsoft Office tools, ensuring information is accurate, organized, and delivered on time.
  • Provide responsive service to business members and dependable support to the MBL team, including departmental back-up coverage as needed.
  • Take ownership of assigned work, adapt to changing priorities, and identify opportunities to improve portfolio processes, documentation, and team efficiency.

What success looks like:

  • Required financials, covenant documents, insurance policies, tax receipts, and portfolio records are current, accurate, and easy to retrieve.
  • Annual reviews, maturing-loan activities, notices, reports, and documentation follow-ups are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Borrowers, Loan Officers, and internal partners receive clear, timely communication and dependable follow-through.
  • Potential gaps, exceptions, and approaching deadlines are identified early, escalated appropriately, and resolved proactively.
  • Excel-based trackers and reports provide reliable visibility into portfolio status and support effective decision-making.
  • The portfolio manager works independently, takes initiative and ownership, and contributes as a collaborative, trusted member of the MBL team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field with 1–3 years of relevant experience; 4–6 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending, commercial underwriting, business services, or related loan portfolio operations.
  • Ability to review and interpret personal and business financial documents and maintain accurate, well-organized records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including the ability to maintain trackers, organize data, and prepare recurring reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business members, Loan Officers, leaders, and internal partners.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, time management, confidentiality, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while independently taking ownership, showing initiative, and moving work forward.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing or supporting a commercial loan portfolio, including annual reviews, covenant tracking, renewals, or document collection.
  • Experience with commercial loan documentation, servicing, deposits, or business services.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience creating or maintaining detailed trackers and reports.
  • Experience with document-management or loan systems such as Synergy.
