    Position Title: Member of the Board of Directors

    Purpose: To provide strategic leadership, fiduciary oversight, and governance to the nonprofit organization Germaine's Culinary, as it advances its mission and empowers the community of people experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    Overview of the Role

    Germaine's Culinary empowers adults experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to achieve self-reliance and independence through careers in the food industry. Our curriculum-based program, Nourish & Flourish Kitchen, builds independence and ensures student success through hands-on training alongside professional chefs. We are located in Portland, Oregon.

    Serving on the Board of Directors of Germaine's Culinary Inc. is an opportunity for individuals passionate about the wellbeing of people experiencing IDD. Board members provide the critical oversight, advocacy, and resource development necessary to sustain and scale our programs.

    Qualifications & Commitment

    • Board membership requires a strong commitment to the mission and values of Germaine's Culinary.
    • Board members should have professional experience or lived experience in fields such as culinary arts, social services, business leadership, finance, fundraising, legal, community organizing, information technology, or marketing. Prior nonprofit board experience is preferred but not required.
    • Board members serve a three-year term and may be elected to successive terms. Board service requires a commitment of 2-4 hours per month, including monthly board meetings, periodic board retreats, committee work, and attendance at key organizational events.
