The Arizona State Retirement System is seeking a proactive individual with work experience in pension-related calculations to fill a lead role in Member Benefits.
- Provide training, coaching, mentoring and feedback to Pension Calculations Specialists in conjunction with and support from the supervisor.
- Participate in process changes and updates
- Performs, reviews and validates complex calculations for ASRS benefits. This includes reviewing the calculation and processing elements completed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper payment of benefits.
- Communicates with members, internal staff, and employers through all modes of communication.
- Researches, analyzes and verifies information relating to members and beneficiaries, benefit payments, and member accounts following statute and legal determinations.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state legislation and Internal Revenue Service regulations.
- Assists with cross divisional work, as assigned. Mentoring others.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Prefer one year of work experience calculating and reviewing benefits, pensions, or similar financial transactions
- Prefer one year work experience calculating adjustments to individual account balances
- Prefer Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in math
