Worknet Staffing Services is searching for an experienced medium – heavy duty truck technician for immediate work in the greater Lafayette area.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and perform needed repairs. Examines assigned vehicle and suggest additional repairs or services.
- Ability to diagnoses and repair various systems including brakes, engines both gas and diesel, drive trains, electrical / electronics, and HVAC.
- Accurately documents all repairs and services performed and suggested.
- Road test vehicles when required.
- Keeping abreast of technical data and participating in manufacture sponsored trainings.
- Communicates with shop lead on progress of the assigned repair, Issues arising during the repair, or occurrences prolonging the repair.
- Supervise work of less skilled technicians.
- Continually clean the work area to reduce the occurrence of mishaps.
- Report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Must be able to work with limited supervision in diagnosing and repairing of assigned vehicles.
- Must possess a working knowledge of modern automotive systems in order to diagnose and repair in a efficient and productive manner.
- Must be able to read and comprehend procedure manuals, instructions, memos, and correspondence.
- Must be able to write routine reports and speak clearly and effectively to coworkers and customers.
- Must be able to preform basic math calculations and measurements.
- Must be able to apply common sense reasoning to instructions but written and verbal.
- Must possess basic hand tools and meters of the trade.
- MUST RESIDE IN OR WILLING TO RELOCATE TO THE GREATER LAFAYETTE AREA.
Required ASE Certifications
- Brakes Cert. med/heavy truck
- Diesel Cert. med/ heavy truck
- Driver Train Cert. med/ heavy truck
- Electrical / Electronic Cert. med / heavy truck
- Gasoline engine Cert. med / heavy truck
- Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Cert. med / heavy truck
- Preventive Maintenance Inspection Cert. med / heavy truck
- Suspension and Steering Cert. for med / heavy truck
Education and / or Experience:
- Two to four years’ related experience and trainings.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
$35/hr plus for someone fully GM trained. Less for someone who must be trained or is missing required certifications.
Must past pre-employment drug screen and background check.
