Medication Authorization Specialist

Coordinates with clinic staff, insurance carriers, patients, pharmacy, and providers to accurately complete required documentation for insurance verification and approval in a timely manner. Other education and experience may be substituted (if applicable) for the required minimum job qualifications with the approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Overview:

Ensures efficient initiation and follow-up of prior authorizations for various medications.  Coordinates with clinic staff, insurance carriers, patients, pharmacy, and providers to accurately complete required documentation for insurance verification and approval in a timely manner.

 

 

Qualifications:

• PRE-HIRE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education
  • Previous experience in medical billing or prior authorization is highly preferred

   

  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO CLEARANCE TO WORK:

  • Attendance at New Employee Orientation classroom program
  • Aggression Management Training
  • Successful completion of Computer-Based orientation

   

  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO INDEPENDENCE FROM PRECEPTOR:

  • Successful completion of orientation skills checklist
