A Medical Technologist (ASCP) is needed at a 190-bed acute care hospital and emergency room in Overland Park, KS. The facility is home to a certified Breast Center of Excellence, a Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence, a Women's Center, a Bariatric Program, and an inpatient rehabilitation center.

The role. The Medical Technologist performs the full spectrum of laboratory testing — including waived, moderate complexity, and high complexity testing on blood and body fluids as defined by CLIA 1988 — along with pre-analytic responsibilities such as specimen collection and processing and post-analytic responsibilities including test reporting, result verification, and quality control monitoring. The technologist correlates abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states to determine result validity and whether follow-up testing is warranted, and participates in the evaluation of new test methodologies and instrumentation. This position also supports the laboratory's teaching mission by instructing clinical laboratory sciences students in theory and procedures, and assists with the orientation and training of LTA, CLT, MLT, and MT staff at all registration levels.

What we're looking for.
  • Must have bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science, or bachelor's degree and certification in a sub-specialty area, or 'grand-fathered' as a Medical Technologist by CLIA88 is required
  • Medical Technologist ASCP, CLS (NCA), or as appropriate, BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) certification or equivalent is required
  • Must have a minimum of 1+ years of recent experience in Blood Bank in a hospital lab environment (will not consider experience that is not acute care)

Schedule. Full-time nights with rotating weekends; a weekends-only option (Thursday–Sunday nights) is also available.

Compensation. $29.00 - $41.00/hr
