    Job Description Summary:

    Provides accurate and timely laboratory information based on the performance of analytical tests on human body substances. Correlates and interprets test data. This is done to detect evidence of or prevent disease or impairment and to promote and monitor good health. Monitors quality assurance and maintains laboratory instrumentation including all documentation. Follows established guidelines and protocols to provide requested clinical information to Physicians, nurses, and other relevant health care personnel. Expected to perform phlebotomy duties as needed. May orient and train new employees and provide supervision to Medical Laboratory Technicians on the same shift, as needed. May temporarily act as a designated person in charge in the absence of direct supervision.

    Sat, Sun, Mon nights          3 -12 hour shifts

    Qualifications
    2 year / Associate Degree in Medical Technology (Required)
    OR meet CLIA minimum qualifications for high complexity testing personnel. (Required)
    4 year / Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology (Preferred)

    Work Experience
    0 - 1 year Ability to perform in one or more laboratory departments as a clinical laboratory scientist. & nbsp (Preferred)

    Essential Functions
    MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST JOB DUTIES:
    Provides assistance to the department in accurate and timely results of tests.
    Produces accurate and timely results according to established procedures
    Works independently with little or no supervision.
    Uses sound clinical judgment when evaluating laboratory results.
    Documents work performed and recognize abnormal and critical results.
    Maintains all laboratory equipment properly as evidenced by proper documentation.
    Monitors the quality assurance system, including quality control.

    Maintains and develops professional skills and knowledge.
    Identifies strengths and development needs through self evaluation.
    Participates in educational activities related to knowledge and professional issues.
    Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency and learning.

    TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE:
    Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.

    DOCUMENTATION:
    Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.

    For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
    Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
