Job Description Summary

This is a short-term/temporary position.

Under the supervision of an appropriate manager, this position provides medical services to youth enrolled in programming at the California Job ChalleNGe Academy, held at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in Los Alamitos, CA.

As the on-call physician, the provider shall furnish treatment for walk-ins, medical advice, opinions, and recommendations to the clinical staff concerning the health care and treatment issues which pertain to students enrolled in the program at JFTB Los Alamitos.

Employee duties and responsibilities shall generally conform to the position description developed by the State of California for Physicians. The physician employed under this contract must possess a license issued by the State of California to practice their professional skills.

Assignment Details (On-Call) - Immediate need through 5/31/2027

Phone Consultation: 2 hrs / week x 22 weeks = up to 44 hours

Assignment Details (In-Person) - Immediate need through 5/31/2027

Clinic visits: 2 hrs / week x 43 weeks = up to 86 hours total

• Services shall be offered on Wednesdays, 9:00am-11:00am, with a minimum of 1 hours per visit if patient volume is low.

Pre-Program Intake Sessions: 3 intake session / year @ 8 hrs / session = up to 24 hours total

• Intake sessions are generally scheduled within the first week of each program cycle.

The California Job ChalleNGe Academy, as part of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, is operated through a cooperative agreement between the National Guard Bureau and the State of California, and is funded through the California Military Department.

These are non-continuing, temporary appointments made in response to special projects, unexpected workload demands, and/or department assessment of organization. The service required or similar services will not be extended or needed on a continuing basis. Employees in this category are limited to 175 working days per fiscal year.
