Medical Science Liaison (MSL) - West Region
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for establishing and developing collaborative relationships with the medical/scientific community. Training and educating investigators/clinicians/company employees on the proper use of company products/devices. Collaborating with internal/external partners to develop medical community awareness of marketed products. Pre-Identify opportunities to partner with the medical/scientific community to identify research opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will perform a key role in the clinical/medical community to support company products, through strategic alignment and execution of activities such as training and education of investigators/clinicians/physicians, collaborating with both internal/external KOLs to develop awareness of marketed products, publication planning support.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In-depth knowledge of company products and associated disease states
- Maintaining and expanding high level of knowledge regarding clinical/medical science relevant to company interests
- Support publication process of identified concepts
- Identify, establish and maintaining relationships with key health care providers
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for training and educating investigators and medical community on scientific matters relevant to products, devices and areas of research
- Support Advisory board and panels
- Training investigators, clinicians and other company employees on appropriate use of company products throughout medical community
- Support medical affairs strategies, aligning with needs of the business
- Serve as clinical/scientific resource for the commercial team
- Support hospital formulary process and approvals
- Assisting hospitals by communicating non-promotional clinical evidence to assist in the formulary decision making process
- Development of KOLs through medical education at key strategic hospitals
- Collaborate with internal/external partners to stimulate and develop research protocols and grant applications that advance the mission of the company
- Presenting data on company science and products to KOLs, GPOs and medical community in compliance with regulatory guidelines
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's and advanced degree in Clinical or Scientific field required
- 7-10+ years experience in a related healthcare field required
- In-depth knowledge of complex diseases preferred
- Solid understanding of clinical mechanisms and science behind product line
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Exemplary communication skills
- Effective presentation ability to convey and educate clinical/medical aspects to internal/external audiences
- Knowledge of formulary approval process
- Well-organized, operationally effective
- Proven record of success in establishing cross functional relationships with internal/external stakeholders
- Must be able to quickly understand and assimilate medical knowledge
Additional Job Requirements:
- Travel 60+%. Overnight travel will be required.
- Candidates must be able to successfully pass background and drug screen investigations.
- Candidates must comply with all policies and satisfy all requirements set forth by the facilities in your assigned territory to gain entry to those facilities to perform required job responsibilities. These may include, without limitation, additional background investigations, drug and alcohol screenings, immunization verifications, and adherence to facility-specific policies and procedures. The ability to gain and maintain access to these facilities is essential to performing the responsibilities of this position.
- Candidates must reside in region for which they are responsible, ideally located near major airport for easy access throughout the territory.
Anticipated salary range: ~$145,000 - $160,000
