Medical Records Coordinator
Location: Glendale, AZ 85301
Duration: 6 Months – Contract
Pay Rate: $17/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Records Coordinator to support clinical services in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for patient registration, payment collection, maintaining accurate electronic medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
As one of the first points of contact for patients, this position plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience while providing professional and efficient administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients accurately within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Collect and process patient payments according to established procedures.
- Prepare, maintain, and update electronic medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
- Gather and verify patient demographic and medical information.
- Provide professional, courteous, and customer-focused service to patients and visitors.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Assist with administrative, clerical, and other clinical support duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of experience registering patients using an EMR system in a healthcare setting.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Education/Experience Substitution: A combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience gathering patient information and creating medical records.
- Cashiering or cash-handling experience.
- Certification as a Public Health Worker or Community Health Worker from an accredited institution, or current enrollment in a qualifying program with the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Must obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License by the time of hire.
