    Education Required:

    High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school, is required.

    Experience Required:

    2 years experience as a Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist in a Physician/Medical/hospital setting or 2 years administrative, general receptionist and/or direct customer service related experience

    Education/Experience Preferred:

    Associates Degree

    EPIC or other EHR experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Knowledge of:

    Medical billing procedures, medical insurance claims procedures, and documentation required by third party payors

    Scheduling and/or patient records or billing software such as IDX or SMS is preferred

    Medical terminology

    Data management techniques

    General math and accounting procedures

    Skills:

    Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet and data entry skills required; intermediate to advanced skill IDX preferred

    Skill in use of operating basic office equipment (eg. copier, fax, calculator, multi-function telephone)

    Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

    May require transcription skills.

    Ability to:

    Maintain confidentiality of records and information

    Verify data input and correct errors

    Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Gather, review and compile information and prepare reports, often with deadlines

    Focus on customer needs and follow through to meet needs

    Understand and apply knowledge of department/organizational policies & procedures and resolve routine to complex problems

    Make administrative/procedural judgements

    Function in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

    Be flexible and fill-in for multiple positions within the department

    Answer telephone and triage calls for the practice/office.

    Schedule appointments via telephone or in-person and makes calls to confirm appointments.

    Creates and inputs department/provider schedules.

    May schedule/coordinate appointments with other areas of the hospital.

    Enters routine to complex patient charges into billing system for physician or care provider visits, according to protocol.

    May batch and verify patient-related documents & bills for accuracy, according to protocol.

    May perform a variety of administrative functions as directed by manager: coordinate travel and prepares reimbursement requests, coordinate and schedule appointments, interviews, and/or meetings for physician(s) or care provider(s); exercises discretion and judgement to coordinate calendars for multiple individuals, care providers or groups.

    Responsible for maintaining the inventory/orders for office supplies for the back office staff.

    Produce routine to complex documents, correspondence, reports utilizing multi-functional computer skills. May be required to transcribe information.

    Complete other related job duties as required.

    May develop, adjust and ensure implementation of operational procedures within the department, shifting work flow among support staff when necessary.

    May participate in training of office staff.

    Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice.

    Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families.

    Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARDS.
