Medical Payment Posting Specialist – Must-Have Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 6–12 months of medical payment posting or medical billing experience preferred
• Experience posting insurance and patient payments
• Strong computer, data entry, and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare setting
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset

Medical Payment Posting Specialist – Position Summary

The Medical Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, balancing daily batches, processing refunds, and supporting revenue cycle operations. This role works closely with billing staff to resolve unpaid or underpaid claims while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Medical Payment Posting Specialist – Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Upload electronic remits and distribute claims daily
• Access insurance portals to retrieve remittance information
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately
• Process auto-posted and manual payment entries
• Review unpaid or underpaid claims for follow-up
• Manage payment arrangements and returned payments
• Process patient refunds and monthly statements
• Work payment analysis reports monthly
• Balance daily payment batches and complete deposits
• Scan and maintain electronic payment documentation
• Maintain organized records and work areas
• Assist team members and support office operations
• Follow company policies and attendance expectations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Medical Payment Posting Specialist – Additional Qualifications

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive data entry tasks
• Daily standing, walking, and bending as needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
• Familiarity with medical billing software preferred
• Occasional travel may be required
