About the Role:
Pediatric Cardiology Consultants of South Texas is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Office Specialist to join our team in Live Oak, TX. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young patients and their families while working alongside a team of skilled pediatric cardiology professionals. Responsibilities:
  • Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front-desk experience
  • Prior Authorization and Referral Coordination 
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits
  • Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and process co-pays and billing
  • Maintain and update accurate electronic health records (EHR) and patient files
  • Coordinate communication between patients, families, and clinical staff
  • Handle incoming calls, messages, and correspondence in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; medical office or healthcare administration training preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with medical billing, insurance verification, and prior authorizations
  • Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and general computer skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with pediatric patients and families
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy clinical environment
  • Professional, empathetic demeanor with a patient-first attitude
Preferred Experience
  • AthenaOne experience
  • Specialty physician-practice experience
  • Prior authorization and referral coordination experience
  • Experience supporting medical billing activities
  • Commercial insurance and Medicaid managed-care experience
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 terminology
  • Pediatric or cardiology experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
