Job Summary:

Assist providers in the examination and treatment of patients, performing various clinical and clerical tasks. Directly reports to the Practice Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of treatment rooms
  • Intake/interviewing of patients
  • Measuring and recording patient information (e.g. vital signs, medications, history, etc.)
  • Performs pre-visit chart preparation by reviewing records, updating medications and care gaps, and flagging outstanding items for provider review
  • Processing of orders to include entry, obtaining insurance authorization and referrals
  • Provide forms as required by specialty to the patient and assists with completion, as needed
  • Assist with the cleaning and restocking of patient rooms
  • Capable of sterilizing instruments, using proper sterilization procedures and equipment (e.g. autoclave)
  • Inventory and order medical supplies and materials
  • Uses professional and effective phone skills, providing answers in a timely manner
  • Clerical duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records and completing insurance forms
  • Willingly provide support to other staff as needed to prevent backlog and maintain even work-loads
  • Willingness to float to different areas as needed
  • Provides support to the referral team to complete all specialties referrals
  • Seeks guidance on clinical tasks from the Nurse Manager
  • Adheres to practice policies and procedures
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School degree or equivalent;

Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant program and/or one year of direct medical office assistant experience;

Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross;

Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures; and

Experience with electronic medical records.

Preferred Qualifications:

EPIC EMR experience

Work Days:

M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with potential for evenings and weekends in the future.

Part-time or Full-time position available. 24-40hrs per week based on candidates'' preference.
