    As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing to assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease. The role requires excellent analytical skills, strict adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work independently during overnight shifts while ensuring timely and accurate patient results.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing according to CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and hospital standards.
    • Conduct testing in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and other assigned laboratory sections.
    • Perform blood typing, antibody screening, compatibility testing, crossmatching, and blood product preparation.
    • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Vitros Chemistry Analyzers.
    • Perform pediatric laboratory testing while ensuring specimen integrity and patient safety.
    • Review, verify, and release laboratory results accurately and promptly.
    • Identify critical values and immediately notify physicians or nursing staff according to hospital policy.
    • Perform routine quality control (QC), proficiency testing, instrument calibration, and preventive maintenance.
    • Process and evaluate blood, urine, body fluids, and other clinical specimens.
    • Utilize Cerner Millennium Laboratory Information System (LIS) for documentation, order verification, and result reporting.
    • Follow laboratory safety procedures, infection prevention protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
    • Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation, and supply monitoring.
    • Support laboratory workflow and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Perform phlebotomy as needed (preferred but not required).

    Laboratory Departments:

    Candidates should have experience in:

    • Clinical Chemistry
    • Blood Bank / Transfusion Services
    • Hematology
    • Urinalysis
    • Pediatric Laboratory Testing
    • Specimen Processing

    Equipment & Technology:

    • Chemistry Analyzer: Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Vitros
    • Laboratory Information System (LIS): Cerner Millennium

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 years of recent Medical Laboratory experience
    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Science program
    • Strong understanding of laboratory quality assurance and quality control principles
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced overnight laboratory environment

    Required Certifications:

    • ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) OR
    • AMT (American Medical Technologists) Certification
    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Required Experience:

    Candidates must have experience with:

    • Hunter Green Scrubs Preferred
    • Maroon and Royal Blue Scrubs are NOT permitted

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.
    • Frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
    • Manual dexterity to operate laboratory analyzers and perform precision testing.
    • Ability to safely lift laboratory supplies and specimens as needed.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Active ASCP or AMT Certification Verification
