Medical Laboratory Scientist

Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support our client's healthcare facility in Schaumburg IL. This is a 13 weeks contract role (with high possibility of extension or conversion) offering a great opportunity for experience to excel in a dynamic environment.
 
Job Details: 
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 PM–2:30 AM (2nd shift)
Location: Schaumburg IL 60173
Job Type: Local contract 
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Pay Range: $28 to $32/hour*
*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.  
 
Duties: 

• Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and record maintenance
• Analyze patient specimens using approved testing procedures and department SOPs
• Review and release laboratory test results accurately
• Perform and document quality control activities
• Perform instrument and procedural calibrations and document required maintenance
• Identify issues that may affect test performance or result reporting and take appropriate corrective action
• Notify the senior technologist or supervisor of problems when necessary
• Document corrective actions when testing systems deviate from established performance specifications
• Follow procedures for reporting STAT and critical results to clients
• Maintain complete and accurate records of testing performed on-site
• Ensure reagents and test kits are properly dated, including receipt, expiration, and opening dates when applicable

Requirements: 

• Education: 

  One of the following educational backgrounds is required/preferred based on applicable laboratory qualification standards

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology
• Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Previously qualified as a Technologist under applicable CLIA requirements
  
  License(s) / Certification(s): 
• National certification or eligibility for certification as an MT/MLS/MLT through a recognized organization such as ASCP or AMT is expected
• Illinois state licensure/credentials are required as applicable
   
• Years of experience: 
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience with high-complexity testing preferred
   
• Skills/Specialties/Technology: Candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology should have a minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing
