Medical Lab Technician/Technologist II - Special Chemistry

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Special Chemistry Medical Technologist / Technician II to join a clinical laboratory team in Nashville, TN. This position is responsible for independently performing laboratory testing, specimen processing, analysis, and accurate reporting of patient results within a Special Chemistry environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical laboratory experience, demonstrated competency with laboratory procedures, and the ability to independently troubleshoot testing, instrumentation, and quality-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory testing independently while maintaining established quality and accuracy standards.
- Receive and process patient specimens according to established laboratory protocols.
- Perform, interpret, and report accurate and precise laboratory test results.
- Demonstrate competency in standard laboratory procedures and testing methodologies.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve problems that may affect test performance or patient result reporting.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration support, and method troubleshooting.
- Assist with maintaining and documenting effective QA/QC programs and quality monitoring activities.
- Develop and update laboratory procedures to improve testing efficiency, accuracy, and reporting.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures and departmental protocols.
- Assist laboratory leadership with supply ordering, inventory management, and other administrative functions.
- Communicate technical issues, testing concerns, and pertinent information to laboratory leadership.
- Collaborate effectively with other laboratory departments and team members.
- Maintain established departmental productivity and performance expectations.
- Follow all applicable compliance, privacy, security, and laboratory policies.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, biological, or related clinical laboratory science.
- Valid ASCP or AMT certification required.
- Three or more years of related clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Special Chemistry or related clinical chemistry laboratory experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to independently perform laboratory testing and troubleshoot technical or instrumentation issues.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, quality control, laboratory safety, and testing procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce accurate and reliable results.
- Must maintain appropriate continuing education for certification and applicable licensure.
