MUST:
Experienced Medical Lab Technician
Must have 2 plus years of experience as a Medical Lab Technician
Must hold an associate s degree in medical technology
Must have experience using EMR; knowledge of Anthena or Epic highly preferred
Must be able to function independently
Must have experience performing and monitoring specialized diagnostic lab test

DUTIES:
Medical Lab Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Performed phlebotomy and collected patient specimens according to physician orders while ensuring proper patient identification and specimen integrity
Verified insurance pre-authorizations and completed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) consent forms for limited-coverage laboratory tests
Assisted with specialized procedures, including bone marrow specimen collection and processing
Processed, handled, and prepared specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards for in-house and reference laboratory testing
Performed laboratory analysis in Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology using automated and manual methodologies
Operated, calibrated, and maintained laboratory instrumentation, completing required daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance
Maintained compliance with quality control (QC) procedures by documenting QC results, instrument calibrations, maintenance activities, reagent lot numbers, and control records
Participated in proficiency testing programs by analyzing samples and accurately reporting results in accordance with laboratory standards
Prepared peripheral blood smears and performed manual white blood cell (WBC) differentials
Performed microscopic examination of urinary sediment and accurately documented findings
Entered, verified, and maintained patient test results within the laboratory information system (LIS), including processing specimens for reference laboratory testing
Identified testing discrepancies and instrument performance issues, implemented corrective actions, and notified supervisors when necessary while documenting all corrective measures
Maintained complete quality assurance documentation, including accession logs, quality control records, equipment maintenance logs, and critical result documentation with appropriate follow-up
Monitored laboratory inventory, ensured availability and integrity of testing supplies, and prepared reagents and stains for routine patient testing
Prepared reagents, stains, and other chemical solutions as needed, and restocked laboratory supplies to maintain uninterrupted workflow
Processed and reviewed in-house and incoming laboratory results for accurate documentation and patient charting
Entered patient test results into the laboratory information system (LIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner
Accurately identified and banded patients for blood product transfusions and processed properly labeled specimens in accordance with facility policies
Maintained compliance with OSHA regulations, Universal Precautions, and infection prevention standards to ensure a safe laboratory environment
Adhered to CLIA requirements and other applicable regulatory and accreditation standards
Safely handled and disposed of biohazardous and hazardous laboratory materials according to established protocols
Maintained a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment
Protected patient privacy by maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies
Performed CLIA-waived and moderately complex laboratory testing while following established quality and procedural guidelines
Worked under the supervision of a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) while maintaining compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards.
