    CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt - Full-Time

    REPORTS TO: Clinic Manager or Laboratory Supervisor

    SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Provides professional team-based care to patients. Assists in the continuum of care and in educating patients on their patient centered medical home. Performs a variety of support services in the clinic laboratory, provides phlebotomy services for all clients, and performs limited routine laboratory testing in the clinical laboratory.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)

    1. Obtains blood specimens from patients by venipuncture, arterial, or capillary puncture; collects specimens via other methods for testing. Identifies and labels specimens, sends them to laboratory for analysis, and documents patient medication dosages when appropriate. May conduct glucose or clotting tests. Reports results and maintains records of samples drawn per laboratory policies.
    2. Performs routine lab procedures and tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology. Operates under the personal guidance of the Medical Technologist using only limited independent judgement.
    3. Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
    4. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance, and document all action taken.
    5. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test results and be able to either correct the problem or immediately notify laboratory supervisor or lab director.
    6. Performs duties in all departments as qualified.
    7. Performs related work as required.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Required:

    1. Graduation from high school or GED.

    Preferred:

    1. Word Processing and computer experience
    2. Phlebotomy and clinical or hospital laboratory testing experience
