Knowledge of medical terminology and practice management computer software programs a plus.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides patient care according to established standard practices.Collect and distribute all incoming faxes.Checkout/ make future appointments for patients.Process and complete patient disability forms.Outgoing ReferralsNCS/EMGScheduling of Imaging, Home Health, Physical Therapy, nerve conduction studies.Schedule patients to review test results as they are received.Answer PhonesSurgery Scheduling BackupPrepare charts and Xray request formsRequest authorizations for testing.Request authorizations for additional office visits.Request extensions for existing authorizations that are expired.May perform selected clinical and administrative duties, such as referrals, authorizations, preparation of rounds, new prescriptions, and refills.Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies prior to rooming patients.Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization. Return patient calls within a 24-hour period.Relay provider communications to patients by phone or mail.Provide general information on departmental policies and procedures.Organize patient files, records, and reports for Dr. to review.Performs duties requiring moderate problem solving and critical thinking.Provides training and mentoring to other staff members.Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested.Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.In the spirit of teamwork, employees are expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.Review and correct mistakes of others as needed.PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
