Reporting To Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services Department Behavioral Health Services POSITION SUMMARY The Medical Director provides psychiatric care and medical leadership through consultation with clinical staff and provides medical input into administrative decisions regarding policies, procedures, and monitoring of patient care. The Director has consultative and coordinating responsibilities for clinical work performed by other disciplines and works collaboratively with BHS Leadership to develop in person and telehealth psychiatric care for clients with private and public insurances. BHS clients may exhibit a range of mild to more severe behavioral health issues, and clients range in age from early childhood through adulthood. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews, as well as the required documentation. Prescribes and monitors medications where indicated. Orders and reviews findings of laboratory tests as needed. Available for in-person and telehealth services based on client needs and agency contracts. Sits on the behavior treatment committee team to review and approve behavior plans as needed. Provides clinical oversight and consultation to other disciplines as needed. Coordinates the delivery of psychiatric services on an agency-wide basis. Assists with the development of procedures and protocols for service delivery as needed. Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of psychiatric and medical services provided to the Clinicâs clients. Defines psychiatric responsibilities with respect to client care. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings of psychiatric and medical staff to improve quality of care; conducts and/or participates in other meetings, e.g. compliance meetings, root cause analysis meetings, BTCâs. Provides in-service training for clinicians on clinically related topics. Participates in the recruitment, selection, and supervision of psychiatric staff, including nurse practitioners or psychiatric residents, coordinates required peer review activities for psychiatric staff and participates in their performance evaluations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and participate in compliance audits.
