The Anesthesia Site Director is responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative leadership of the Department of Anesthesiology at GSH, SACH, and BSC . The Site Director ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of anesthesia services while serving as the primary liaison between the anesthesia department, hospital leadership, surgeons, nursing, and perioperative services. The Site Director promotes excellence in patient care, physician and CRNA engagement, quality improvement, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance while fostering a collaborative, team-based culture. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership

Provide clinical leadership to anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and anesthesia staff. Promote evidence-based anesthesia practice and adherence to departmental policies and clinical protocols. Support the delivery of safe, high-quality perioperative care. Participate in clinical care as required. Operational Management Oversee the daily operation of anesthesia services to ensure appropriate staffing and operating room coverage. Collaborate with OR leadership to optimize operating room efficiency, case flow, and resource utilization. Identify operational challenges and develop solutions to improve productivity and patient throughput. Assist with implementation of new clinical programs, technologies, and service lines. Monitor key operational metrics, including first-case on-time starts, turnover times, cancellation rates, and OR utilization. Personnel Management Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and mutual respect. Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of anesthesiologists and CRNAs. Provide coaching and performance feedback to department members. Address professionalism and performance concerns in collaboration with departmental leadership. Assist with physician scheduling and vacation planning as needed. Quality and Patient Safety Lead local quality improvement initiatives. Monitor quality indicators and patient outcomes. Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review, and quality assurance activities. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and departmental standards. Promote patient safety initiatives and a culture of continuous improvement. Administrative Responsibilities Serve as the primary anesthesia representative for hospital committees and leadership meetings. Collaborate with hospital administration, surgery, nursing, and perioperative leadership to improve patient care and operational performance. Assist in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Support budgeting, equipment evaluation, and capital planning for anesthesia services. Education Support education of residents, fellows, CRNAs, medical students, and other learners, when applicable. Encourage continuing medical education and professional development. Promote adherence to departmental educational standards. Communication Maintain effective communication with surgeons, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and anesthesia providers. Address concerns promptly and facilitate collaborative problem-solving. Serve as a visible and approachable leader for the anesthesia team. Qualifications Required MD or DO degree from an accredited institution. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology. Unrestricted medical license (or eligibility for licensure) in the applicable state. DEA registration. Current BLS and ACLS certification (or eligibility). Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical judgment and commitment to patient safety. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage conflict effectively. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Data-driven approach to operational improvement. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with administrative leadership. Reporting Relationship The Anesthesia Site Director reports to the Vice Chair of Clinical Anesthesia and works collaboratively with Hospital Administration, Perioperative Services, Nursing Leadership, and Surgical Services.
