Job Description
Be the founding clinical leader of a brand-new site! A mission-driven community health center serving some of New York City's most underserved residents is seeking a Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of Behavioral Health, splitting your time between shaping a growing program and caring for patients.
What You'll Do:
Spend roughly half your time on clinical care, including mentoring and supporting nurse practitioners, and half on leadership and administration Serve as the collaborating physician for psychiatric nurse practitioners Set clinical standards and policies in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, whom you'll report to directly Build and onboard a high-performing behavioral health team and help guide hiring, evaluation, and development Lead quality improvement, risk management, and compliance efforts across behavioral health services Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and growth as part of senior leadership Drive integration of behavioral health with primary care and oral health in a patient-centered medical home model Build partnerships with hospitals, health plans, universities, and community organizations Partner on identifying and growing funding sources Support residential and case management teams with consultation, training, and care coordination on complex cases
What You'll Bring:
MD or DO with an active NY medical license Board certified in Psychiatry 3+ years in a clinical leadership role, ideally in a community health center/FQHC setting Fellowship training in psychiatry, child and adolescent, or substance use is a plus Knowledge of credentialing, quality improvement, and ambulatory care administration Strong organizational and leadership skills
