Interested in becoming a Medical Director, but want the opportunity to learn the role before taking the lead?
You don't have to choose between continuing to practice great medicine and building a career in veterinary leadership. This opportunity offers a gradual path from clinical practice into medical direction, with guidance from an experienced leader and time to develop the skills needed to lead a veterinary team.
You'll begin as an Associate Veterinarian, building relationships with the team and clients while preparing to take on broader clinical and leadership responsibilities. For the right DVM, this could be a chance to grow into leadership with a foundation already in place.
What You'll Find Here
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a small animal general practice covering preventive and wellness care, diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry. You'll remain involved in hands-on patient care while gaining experience with the broader decisions that influence clinical quality and team performance.
As your leadership responsibilities develop, you'll contribute to medical protocols, support fellow DVMs, and help guide clinical and team priorities. The transition is intended to build progressively rather than place you in a leadership position without preparation.
Who Might Love This
This could suit a veterinarian with approximately 3–5 or more years of small animal experience who is ready to explore medical leadership. A solid foundation in medicine, surgery, and dentistry, strong communication skills, and an interest in mentoring others will be valuable.
A Michigan veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain one, is required.
