About the Role
The Medical Compliance Specialist is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities within Clarvida’s Residential Habilitation and Community Participation Supports programs. Working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, this position performs technical nursing assignments, administers medications, provides direct care, monitors medical regimens, and supports the health and safety of individuals receiving services.
The Medical Compliance Specialist works across residential and community-based settings and collaborates with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and Clarvida staff to promote high-quality care. This position requires travel between residential and office locations and may require operating company vehicles to transport individuals to community outings and medical appointments.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and under the supervision of the Director of Nursing
- Provide direct care to residents using standard nursing techniques and established care plans
- Observe, interpret, record, and report signs, symptoms, and other indicators of residents’ responses to actual or potential health concerns
- Promote and maintain resident health through teaching, guidance, and counseling of residents, families, and staff
- Participate in formal staff development and continuing education programs to maintain and enhance professional nursing competence
- Identify actual and potential safety hazards within assigned care areas and take appropriate action to address them
- Participate in assigned quality improvement committees and related activities
- Monitor medical regimens to ensure they are appropriately implemented according to prescribed written orders
- Observe, document, and report the effects of pharmacological agents and therapeutic treatments
- Prepare and submit records and reports as assigned by the Director of Nursing or other program management staff
- Maintain accurate nursing and medical documentation
- Establish and maintain effective communication with residents, families, employees, and other members of the healthcare system
- Follow oral and written clinical instructions and communicate medical information clearly to non-medical staff
- Make sound judgments regarding the health and welfare of residents
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations involving high emotional intensity
- Work cooperatively and ethically as part of a team to maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing environment
- Serve as a coach or mentor to employees in similar positions as needed
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a state-approved Licensed Practical Nursing program
- Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
- Knowledge of Licensed Practical Nursing theories and practices
- Skill in applying basic nursing practices and methodologies
- Ability to observe, record, and report signs and symptoms related to residents’ actual or potential health status
- Ability to identify actual or potential health and safety hazards
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare required reports
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with residents, families, and other members of the healthcare system
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to acquire new knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to remain current in nursing practice
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and instructions
- Ability to read and understand commonly accepted medical terminology, shorthand, and jargon
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to clearly explain medical instructions to non-medical staff through written and verbal communication
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to apply information obtained through instructional materials and training sessions to day-to-day responsibilities
- Ability to maintain a positive and understanding attitude toward coworkers and individuals receiving services
- Ability to make sound judgments regarding resident health and welfare
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and situations involving high emotional intensity
- Ability to work cooperatively and ethically as a member of a team
- Ability to travel between residential, community, and office locations as required
