Join Henry Ford Health as a Medical Coding and Price Transparency Specialist and play an important role in helping patients better understand and prepare for the cost of their healthcare. In this highly collaborative and patient-focused role, you will provide accurate pricing estimates for a wide range of services, helping patients navigate insurance coverage, self-pay options, and financial responsibilities with confidence and clarity.

- Associate degree in Healthcare, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Two (2) years of medical coding experience preferred.
- Experience with medical billing and reimbursement preferred.
- Experience in a customer-facing healthcare setting preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency using the Henry Ford Health electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent work quality and productivity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong math and calculation skills.
- Ability to complete forms and effectively utilize computer information systems.
- Familiarity with a clinical environment preferred.
- Ability to interpret and work with detailed information accurately.
- Adaptable to changing policies and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, prospective patients, clinic staff, and hospital personnel, both in person and over the phone.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting customer needs.
- Ability to explain patients' general financial responsibilities and connect them with the Corporate Business Office Customer Service Center when appropriate.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Strong teamwork skills with a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Successful completion of annual competency requirements.
Certifications/Licensure Required:
- Current coding certification through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required.
