Description: Medical Coding Specialist In this role, you will review pathology reports and assign appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures. These codes are essential for accurate billing and ensuring healthcare providers receive proper reimbursement.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions - Review Reports: Examine pathology reports to identify relevant information. - Assign Codes: Use coding systems like ICD-10-CM and CPT to assign accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures. - Ensure Accuracy: Verify that all codes are accurate and comply with current regulations and guidelines. - Collaborate: Work with billing departments and healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or questions. - Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with changes in coding standards and healthcare regulations. - Assist management with daily and monthly reporting, as needed.
Qualifications and Skills - Prior medical billing experience preferred. - Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software - Ability to work independently. - Computer skills
Education Requirements - High School Diploma/GED
Physical Requirements - Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. - The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. - The work environment is primarily an office setting.
