Our client, a healthcare company, is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join their revenue cycle team on a temporary basis in Rochester, New York. This role supports claims processing during a period of increased patient volume and involves close coordination with insurance payers, front-office staff, and the accounting department.
The position requires accuracy in coding and claims submission, familiarity with insurance reimbursement processes, and the ability to manage a high volume of accounts. Candidates with prior experience in a medical office or billing department will be best suited for this assignment.
This is a full-time temporary engagement with the possibility of extension based on business needs. The client provides on-the-job training on internal billing systems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit insurance claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers
- Review claims for coding accuracy prior to submission
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims and resubmit as needed
- Post payments and reconcile patient accounts
- Respond to patient billing inquiries by phone and email
- Maintain accurate records within the practice management system
- Communicate with insurance representatives to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with month-end billing reports
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum two years of medical billing or coding experience
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Experience with electronic health records and billing software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
