Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Friday | 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
Compensation: $18–$25/hour DOE | Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

Position Summary

Trinity Employment Specialists is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing/Payment Posting Specialist to join a growing healthcare organization in Edmond. This position is responsible for supporting the revenue cycle through accurate payment posting, insurance billing, accounts receivable follow-up, claim resolution, and patient account management.

Medical Billing/Payment Posting Specialist Responsibilities

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments into the practice management system.
  • Upload and reconcile electronic remittance advice (ERAs) and electronic funds transfers (EFTs).
  • Process both auto-posted and manual payment entries while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Balance daily payment batches and assist with deposits and payment reconciliation.
  • Review accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on unpaid or underpaid insurance claims.
  • Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, payment discrepancies, and billing errors.
  • Contact insurance companies to verify claim status, eligibility, coverage, and reimbursement information.
  • Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Process patient refunds, returned payments, and account adjustments.
  • Assist patients with billing questions, payment arrangements, account balances, and payment plans.
  • Determine patient financial responsibility based on insurance benefits and contractual agreements.
  • Monitor assigned accounts to ensure timely reimbursement and resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and billing systems.
  • Generate and review payment analysis reports and other revenue cycle reports.
  • Scan, upload, and maintain organized electronic payment documentation.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with providers, billing staff, and insurance representatives to resolve complex billing issues.
  • Perform additional billing, payment posting, and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6–12 months of medical billing, payment posting, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up experience preferred.
  • Experience posting insurance and patient payments.
  • Knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance claims, denials, collections, and reimbursement procedures.
  • Basic understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and medical billing software preferred.
  • Strong computer, data entry, and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequent keyboarding and repetitive data entry.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain focus while performing detailed, repetitive tasks.
