About the Opportunity

As a Medical Assistant, you will provide both clinical and administrative support, serving as an essential liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies, and the broader care team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting women"s healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by verifying information, updating medical histories, and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
  • Support patient follow-up activities and care coordination efforts.
  • Communicate laboratory and diagnostic test results to patients as directed by providers.

Patient Services & Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patient questions and concerns.
  • Respond professionally to incoming calls and patient inquiries.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies regarding prescriptions, refill requests, and medication-related questions.
  • Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and other patient services efficiently.

Administrative & EMR Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Update patient information and ensure records remain complete and compliant.
  • Support efficient patient flow and daily clinic operations.
  • Collaborate closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical or physician practice setting.
  • Experience providing direct patient care and clinical support.
  • Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and rooming patients.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience handling patient calls and coordinating with pharmacies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy healthcare environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain CMA or RMA certification within six months of hire if not currently certified.
  • Dependable attendance and commitment to a consistent full-time schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in OB/GYN, women"s health, reproductive health, or a related specialty.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume, multi-provider medical practice.
  • Experience working with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Comfort utilizing modern healthcare technology and clinical software systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and career growth.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy outpatient women"s health setting dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Team members work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes professionalism, communication, and excellence in service delivery.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Consistent weekday schedule with an 8:00 a.m. start time
  • Rotating late-day coverage approximately once per week

Dress Code

  • Professional clinical attire, including scrubs and closed-toe shoes

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Hartford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
