Now Hiring: Medical Assistant (Temp / Temp-to-Perm Opportunity) – Stony Brook Health

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant for a temporary opportunity with the potential to become permanent at Stony Brook Health.

Pay: Up to $25.34/hour, depending on experience

Please note:
• Candidates cannot have previously worked for Stony Brook Health
• Candidates cannot have applied to Stony Brook Health within the last 12 months

Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical and clerical support to physicians and healthcare staff
• Room patients and document medications, vitals, and visit reasons using EMR
• Perform screening procedures including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
• Prepare patients and equipment for exams and procedures
• Collect blood and laboratory specimens as requested
• Perform routine laboratory testing
• Enter proposed orders into EMR for provider review and approval
• Obtain prior test results from outside providers, labs, and radiology offices
• Educate patients regarding treatments, medications, diets, and physician instructions
• Clean and sterilize instruments and properly dispose of contaminated supplies
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and medical inventory
• Assist with scheduling, phones, and administrative duties as needed
• Create and update telephone encounters regarding patient concerns
• Follow patient flow and visit completion protocols
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance at all times

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Computer and/or EMR experience required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Professional phone etiquette
• Self-motivated and dependable
