    Job Summary:

    The Medical Assistant/Secretary provides clinical and secretarial support to the physician, mid-level providers and staff. The Medical Assistant/Secretary is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations, and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations. The Medical Assistant/Secretary is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. Under indirect supervision, provides non-routine and routine support services for a department. Support services include: greet visitors and staff, answer phones, prepare routine letters/correspondence/forms, schedule appointments/meetings, sort and distribute mail, maintenance of supplies/inventory and file maintenance.

    Job Description:

    • Prepares patient for exam and acquires vital signs; weight, general history and current medication list when required.
    • Provides patient care and clinical support to provider/staff. Provides instructions to patient under direction of provider/staff.
    • Documents all clinical findings and patient response to interventions, i.e., history, medications, vital signs, weight and testing results
    • Maintains adequate level of supplies in exam rooms and work station. Cleans and disinfects exam rooms. Reports malfunction of equipment to department supervisor. Purchases and maintains supplies and inventory
    • Assists with completion of referral process, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling
    • Coordination of patient flow including scheduling follow up appointments and communications
    • Organize, track and maintain records/files
    • Greet visitors and staff in a friendly manner. Answer phones and screen calls and visitors as needed.
    • Prepare routine and non-routine confidential correspondence/letters/forms. Sort and distribute mail.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education, Credentials, Licenses:

    • H.S. Diploma/GED

    Specialized Knowledge:

    • None

    Kind and Length of Experience:

    • No formal experience beyond education required.
