    Job Title: Medical Assistant (School Health Office)

    Job Summary

    The Medical Assistant supports the School Nurse by providing quality healthcare services to students and staff. This position assists with daily clinic operations, student assessments, medication administration (as delegated), recordkeeping, and communication with parents and school personnel.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist the School Nurse in providing health services to students.
    • Obtain and document vital signs and health assessments.
    • Provide first aid for minor injuries and illnesses.
    • Administer medications and treatments as delegated by the School Nurse and permitted by state law.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
    • Perform vision, hearing, and other health screenings.
    • Contact parents regarding student illnesses or injuries.
    • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure the health office is organized and stocked.
    • Assist with emergency response and follow school emergency protocols.
    • Promote infection prevention and follow HIPAA and FERPA confidentiality requirements.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
    • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
    • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
    • Experience working with children or in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and respond quickly to emergencies.
    • Ability to work with students of all ages in a fast-paced school environment.
