Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides non-clinical coordination and clinical support tasks to assist the nursing team (RNs) in delivering high-quality, member-centered care. This role focuses on medication profile intake, records and referrals coordination, provider notifications, and precise documentation in our systems. No independent clinical judgment is performed in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for psychiatric and behavioral health appointments
- Obtain and document vital signs and patient health information
- Assist providers during patient visits when appropriate
- Administer medications or injections when required and within scope
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient visits
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes
- Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments
- Coordinate with therapists, psychiatrists, and other clinical staff to support patient care
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record
- Update patient charts and ensure all required documentation is completed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing provider schedules
- Coordinate lab orders, referrals, and prior authorizations when needed
- Support insurance verification and patient intake processes
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical or behavioral health setting preferred
- Knowledge of EHR systems and basic medical documentation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in behavioral health, psychiatry, or mental health clinics
- Familiarity with medication management appointments and psychiatric evaluations
- Experience with insurance verification and patient intake
- Proficient in Spanish, preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel using personal vehicle to complete outreach visits. Mileagereimbursement for the use of your vehicle is at a standard rate.
- Must successfully complete and maintain current Tuberculosis (TB) testing and clearance in accordance with company policy and applicable local/state health regulations as a condition of employment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at an office desk on the computer.
- Lifting: Able to lift up to 15lbs.
