    Job Title: Medical Assistant
    Company: St. Charles Surgery Center
    Location: St. Charles, MO

    Hours:

    • Part-Time
    • Our office is open from Monday-Friday 6am-4pm
      • You will typically work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:45am-3pm (24 hours per week), but this schedule may vary as needed
      • You may need to work a little earlier/later as needed

    SUMMARY

    Serves as support personnel, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), in accordance with established regulations for the practice of Medical Assistant/Tech, Federal, State, and accreditation standards and company policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Participate in direct patient care and maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment.
    • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their certification.
    • Maintain medical records in an accurate and legible manner.
    • Stock inventory, clean stretchers and change bed linens.
    • Bring patients snacks after surgery.
    • Comply with HIPAA regulations.
    • Participate in continuing education/in-service training as needed, staff meetings, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
    • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, Physicians and other staff.
    • Assist in training new staff when needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Maintains a professional attitude.  Able to effectively work within a team.  Balances team and individual responsibilities.  Recognizes each department’s significance and works appropriately with other departments.  Possesses above average oral and written communication skills.  
    • Job Knowledge / Responsibilities – Has the ability to adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost-effective manner. Ability to work independently and within a group.  Follows Physician / Nursing orders and directions from management.  Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment. 
    • Attendance – Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences.


    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

    • Minimum Required: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required
    • Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS 

    • None required

    SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY  

    • Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software is preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Proficient in using printer, copier, telephone and fax machine

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The employee must be able to:

    • Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
    • Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Occasionally be able to push up to an excess of 200 pounds
    • Occasionally be able to pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds
    • Occasionally be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb
