The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to providers to ensure safe, efficient, and patient‑centered care. This position is provider‑aligned and follows the schedule designed to support clinic operations. The MA plays a critical role in patient experience, clinical workflow, documentation accuracy, and follow‑through of care. The MA is expected to perform duties with professionalism, attention to detail, and respect for patient dignity at all times.
Pre‑Visit Preparation
- Review daily schedules for assigned provider(s)
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared prior to patient arrival
- Prepare supplies, equipment, and documentation needed for scheduled visits
- Identify missing information, labs, or forms prior to the visit and communicate concerns promptly
- Anticipate provider and patient needs to support efficient clinic flow
Rooming and Visit Support
- Greet patients professionally and respectfully
- Verify patient identity and reason for visit
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medications, allergies, and relevant history in the EMR
- Prepare patients for provider evaluation
- Communicate key patient concerns to the provider clearly and accurately
During Visits
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures as requested
- Administer injections, immunizations, or perform testing per protocol and scope of practice
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the visit
- Follow all infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards
- Support clinic efficiency without compromising quality of care
Post‑Visit Responsibilities
- Reinforce provider instructions and next steps with patients
- Initiate labs, referrals, follow‑ups, or additional tasks as directed
- Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare exam rooms for subsequent patients
- Communicate unresolved issues or concerns to appropriate team members
Administrative Follow‑Through
- Support referrals, forms, and prior authorizations as assigned
- Track assigned tasks to completion and follow up as needed
- Respond to internal communications promptly
- Escalate barriers or delays early to prevent care disruption
Professional Conduct
- Demonstrate respectful communication with patients, providers, and staff
- Maintain reliability, punctuality, and adherence to assigned schedule
- Accept feedback professionally and participate in improvement efforts
- Uphold clinic policies, procedures, and values
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
Qualifications- BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
