Position Statement: Coordinates and administers nursing care for medical practice patients under the direction of a healthcare provider. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other team personnel and maintains standards for professional nursing practice, striving to meet the goals of the clinic and NCH. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for checking vital signs appropriate to the standard of care relating to specific illness. Checks allergies and medication list updating the chart as necessary to maintain correct information for the provider. Updates the prescribed EMR to maintain accurate records. Reviews medication list with patients current medication bottles. Alerts provider regarding compliance with medications. Obtains refills on prescriptions when indicated. Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital. Informs patients of lab results or new orders as directed by the provider. Assists in the prior authorization of procedures and testing. Schedules patients for additional testing and follow up procedures/appointments. Prepares charts for clinic, ensuring all appropriate information is available. Is responsible for daily preparation and upkeep of examinations rooms including weekly inventory of supplies needed for clinics. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. 1-2 years clinical experience in an office setting preferred. BLS certification required or within six months of hire. Documentation in patients chart is done through the EMR, requires an understanding of the EMR or the ability to learn and comprehend Ability to maintain confidentiality.     North Country Hospital is a private, nonprofit acute care community hospital serving twenty-two communities in a two-county area in the rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.     Founded in 1919 by a group of area citizens, Orleans Country Memorial Hospital opened in 1924, the present North Country Hospital, opened in 1974.
