Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative operations in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare setting. This role focuses on delivering excellent patient care through strong communication, efficient workflow coordination, and clinical support for providers.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, patient-focused, and able to thrive in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Welcome patients and verify demographic and medical information
- Record medical histories and confirm visit reasons
- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, weight, and temperature
- Assist providers during patient visits, physicals, and minor procedures
- Administer injections and prescribed medications as directed by the provider and within scope of practice
- Observe patients for changes in condition or adverse reactions and report concerns appropriately
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record system
- Coordinate scheduling for diagnostic tests and treatments
- Process specialist referrals and obtain insurance pre-authorizations as needed
- Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient visits
- Assist with laboratory procedures and phlebotomy
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accurate medical record handling
- Monitor medical supply inventory and coordinate ordering when necessary
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report repair needs
- Follow safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
- Support overall clinic efficiency through teamwork and professionalism
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or currently working toward completion
- Prior administrative experience, preferably in a medical office setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable learning new healthcare technology systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in outpatient clinics or physician practices
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Phlebotomy experience
- Prior experience with patient scheduling and insurance authorization processes
