Description

Pay Rate: $18 per hour - $22 per hour

Summary:

  • Shift hours: Mon-Thurs 9 AM - 5 PM, Friday 12-8 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, organize patient flow, and assist patients with mobility and preparation for exams.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Manage clerical tasks such as sending and receiving medical records, and completing necessary forms and requisitions.
  • Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for refrigeration, sterilization, and other processes.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by complying with standards and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining medical charts and scheduling surgeries or procedures when necessary.
  • Perform phlebotomy duties, appointment scheduling, and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification from AHA.

Preferred Skills:

  • Effective communication with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to a growing and changing environment.
