Description

A New York City-based health services organization is seeking a certified Medical Assistant (MA) for a great opportunity on its Primary Care team in Manhattan.

About the Opportunity:

  • Shift: Day
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm (rotating to 11am to 7pm every 3 weeks)
  • Setting: Onsite, Medical Office

Responsibilities:

  • Support providers during patient visits by obtaining vital signs and documenting results in the electronic medical record
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and complete point-of-care testing and quality control procedures
  • Assist with EKGs, patient screenings, room preparation, and procedural support as needed
  • Handle clinical and administrative follow-up tasks such as prescription requests, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, and record updates
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, equipment logs, and other daily clinic operations in coordination with the care team

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) in an Ambulatory and/or Primary Care setting
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Medical Assistant certification from an approved school
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort learning new electronic medical record systems

Desired Skills:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience supporting HIV, LGBT+, or other diverse adult patient populations
  • Background in Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Care
  • Familiarity with an ambulatory practice workflow
