Responsibilities:
Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including venipuncture, EKGs, managing patient flow, assisting patients, and processing specimens.
Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions, and provide information to patients and families.
Perform clerical duties such as managing medical records, obtaining reports, and completing forms.
Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests.
Inventory, order, or restock medical supplies.
Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization protocols.
Maintain logging systems for medications, testing, and sterilization processes.
Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Assist in maintaining medical charts and scheduling surgeries/procedures.
Perform proficient phlebotomy duties and manage appointment scheduling and registration.
Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Light level of physical activity required.
Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent telephone etiquette.
Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
Preferred Skills:
Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
