Medical Assistant

Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client’s medical facility in New Paltz, NY (12561). This is a 3+ month contract assignment (convertible to permanent based on your work performance). And a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organisation!

Specific Duties:

• Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice, and assisting MDs with procedures
• Performs clinical duties within scope of practice complying with the accepted Medical and/or individual department standards, policies, and protocols
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient's individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner
• Directs and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner
• Demonstrated clinical competence when assisting physician/mid-level healthcare professional and/or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments
• Performs authorised procedures competently (i.e. vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests, EKGs, POC) as directed by physician or nurse in clinical practice area
• Seeks validation/guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurse when necessary
• Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed to do so by physician
• Inspects, cleans/prepares and processes instruments/equipment according to manufacturers' instructions.
• Processes specimens for transport to laboratory, ensuring that specimens are properly labelled and appropriate orders have been placed in NextGen

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of preferred experience
• Previous Family Medicine or Primary Care experience.
• Medical Assistant Certification from any National Board
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Current BLS certification (through an approved American Heart Association Training Centre or the
• Experience with phlebotomy, EKGs, POCT, urinalysis, and other back-office procedures.

• Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies is required
• Good communication and customer service skills required
• Preferred Education. Experience & Skills
• At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant

• Location: New Paltz, NY (12561)
• Job Type: 3+ months contract-to-hire
• Schedule: 5 days (Mon-Fri)
• Shifts: 8 AM – 5 PM
• Pay Range: $20-$22/hr. on W2
